How Altran helps companies overcome these challenges.
- Altran developed an award-winning "batcane" to revolutionize mobility for the visually impaired. Ultrasonic signals bounce off objects in the environment and feed information back to the cane, enabling the user to "see" obstacles, uniquely, in the full height of his path. The cane's innovations include ergonomic design and software to create a form and interface, with various grips that any user can master quickly, and custom electronics to extend battery life.
- Altran scientists researched the persistent problem of corrosion and fracture of wires in the main support cables on suspension bridges that form the transportation backbone of the Northeastern United States. Results of our lab studies, including tests to simulate various aggressive environments within the cables, are used in models to predict the strength of the cables and help prevent future deterioration.
- Altran helped develop smart onboard detection systems to revolutionize automobile safety by helping drivers analyze their environment.
